Nestlé Professional Promotes Affordable Nutrition with Maggi Soya Chunks in Lagos

Nestlé Professional, the out-of-home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, has taken another step toward addressing the nutrition challenges facing food vendors with the launch of Maggi Soya Chunks, an affordable and nutritious protein option. The initiative was introduced during the Lagos edition of the Business of Food workshop, designed to empower food vendors, chefs, and event planners.

As economic pressures rise, food vendors such as canteens, grillers, Maishais, and bukas often grapple with balancing business profitability and providing adequate nutrition. Recognizing this challenge, the Business of Food workshop series, now in its ninth edition, has trained over 2,000 food business operators across nine states on strategies to boost profitability while enhancing their offerings.

This year's workshop focused on equipping participants with Maggi Soya Chunks, a cost-effective, protein-rich, soy-based product that ensures vendors can deliver nutritious meals without compromising profits. A single pack of Maggi Soya Chunks contains sufficient protein to serve eight people, making it a practical and affordable solution for daily nutrition.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Funmi Osineye, Business Manager for Nestlé Professional in Nigeria, emphasized the company's commitment to empowering local food vendors. “At Nestlé Professional, we are dedicated to providing tools and knowledge that help food vendors thrive. With Maggi Soya Chunks, we offer an affordable and nutritious alternative that supports their businesses and promotes healthier eating habits,” she said.

The workshop also featured a training session led by Mrs. Osaretin Okao, Managing Director of Food Bizz Support Services, who provided practical insights on navigating the challenges of running a food business in tough economic times. “Success in the food industry requires innovation and adaptability,” she said. “By embracing affordable ingredients like Maggi Soya Chunks, vendors can enhance their offerings while maintaining profitability.”

A key highlight of the event was a cooking masterclass by Chef Ehis Oseniga, who demonstrated the preparation of Ofada rice sauce using Maggi Soya Chunks. This was followed by an exciting cooking competition, where participants—including caterers, catering school students, and restaurant owners—created meals such as Chunky Jollof Rice, Soya Spaghetti Jollof, and Soyarito Fried Rice.

Mrs. Osineye assured participants of Nestlé Professional’s continued support. “We remain committed to uplifting the local food industry, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering positive change in our communities,” she said.

The introduction of Maggi Soya Chunks aligns with Nestlé Professional’s mission to empower food vendors with innovative solutions that balance affordability, nutrition, and profitability, ensuring that nutritious meals remain accessible to Nigerians.
