Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Command Donates Writing Materials, Feeds Over 1,700 Pupils in Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kebbi Area Command has extended a gesture of goodwill to the leaders of tomorrow by distributing writing materials and foodstuffs to over 1,700 pupils of Gwandu Emirate Model Primary School in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. The charity initiative, which took place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, was led by the Customs Area Controller of the Kebbi Command, Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike.
The donations included essential learning materials such as books, pencils, and biros, as well as food items to support the pupils' welfare. Speaking during the event, Comptroller Ojike emphasized the importance of educating young Nigerians about the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service, as outlined in the Constitution, and the service's role in supporting the national economy.
“This visit is not only about giving but also about enlightening the children on the role of Customs in safeguarding the economy and national security. We also want them to understand the negative impact of smuggling and why every citizen must avoid such illegal activities,” Ojike stated.
The Headmaster of the school, Malam Aminu Sani, expressed gratitude on behalf of the pupils and staff. He described the gesture as a reflection of the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to social responsibility and compassion. “This support goes a long way in showing that the Nigeria Customs Service is not just about enforcing laws but also about touching lives and building the future of our nation,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashir KKB Galadiman Gwandu, a representative of the Emirate Council, conveyed the appreciation and blessings of the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Iliyasu Bashir, to Comptroller Ojike and his team. “This act of kindness will be remembered as a significant contribution to the development of our community and the education of our children,” he remarked.
The initiative is part of the Nigeria Customs Service’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to strengthen its relationship with communities while promoting education and national development. The Kebbi Area Command continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering goodwill and supporting the socio-economic development of the state.
