Soludo Reaffirms Commitment to Security, Healthcare, Education, and Infrastructure in Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has reiterated his dedication to enhancing security, healthcare, education, and infrastructure in the state. This comes on the heels of his recognition as the most-performing governor in primary healthcare in both the Southeast and Nigeria, earning a total of $1.2 million in prize money from the two categories.

The governor’s ongoing security efforts, spearheaded by the Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiative, aim to position Anambra as the safest state in Nigeria. This initiative has been approved by the State Executive Council as a key priority for the administration.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Law Mefor, the government’s strategic plans under the Anambra State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) program were also highlighted. The program, which integrates the private sector with state ministries, departments, and agencies, aims to boost Anambra’s economic development. The state recently ranked first in Southern Nigeria and seventh nationwide in the latest peer review report.

Infrastructure Projects Approved

The Anambra State Executive Council has approved several critical infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the state’s economic and social development:

  1. Road Rehabilitation and Development:

    • Rehabilitation of Eze Uzu Junction, Agu-Awka, and the ANSIEC Office to Arroma Junction along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Awka.
    • Completion of the Asphalt Wearing Course for the access road to the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area.
  2. Flood Control and Bus Terminals:

    • Development of 624 open stalls within the Modern Bus Terminal in Ekwulobia.
    • Construction of the second phase of the Ekwulobia Flood Control Project, including bio-remediation maintenance for the next year.
    • Rehabilitation of the Amawbia Flyover to Arroma Junction along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
  3. Public Amenities and Connectivity:

    • Provision of free internet access to Nwafor Orizu College of Education and the College of Health Technology, Obosi.
    • Supply and installation of outdoor furniture at the Solution Fun City, Awka.
  4. Security Enhancements:

    • Construction of a gatehouse, perimeter fence, and earthworks for the Ekwulobia Modern Bus Terminal.
    • Installation of security equipment and features in newly acquired security vehicles.
  5. Judiciary Infrastructure:

    • Completion of Judges’ Quarters for the Anambra State Judiciary in Onitsha.

Governor Soludo’s administration continues to make strides in improving infrastructure and public services, ensuring that the state remains a hub for development and a model of effective governance in Nigeria.
