Troops Neutralize Terrorists in Zamfara, Restore Peace to Maru LGA

In a swift and decisive operation, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji (Fansan Yamma), have successfully neutralized scores of terrorists during a fighting patrol in Yar Galadima village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation, conducted in the early hours of December 1, 2024, followed a distress call from residents and vigilantes in the village. The troops, stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hanutara, received the alert at around 5 a.m., reporting an ongoing terrorist attack.

Responding immediately, the troops advanced toward Yar Galadima but encountered ambushes at two separate locations. The ambush sites were swiftly cleared, resulting in several terrorists being neutralized, while others fled the scene.

To bolster the ground operation, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma dispatched aircraft to provide close air support. The fleeing terrorists were also targeted from the air, leading to further neutralization of their ranks.


The successful operation restored peace to the affected area, showcasing the commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to eradicating terrorist activities in Zamfara State and across the North West.

The Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, reaffirmed the operation's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of communities in the region.

Efforts remain ongoing to eliminate terrorist threats and secure the lives and property of residents across Zamfara and beyond.
