First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Pays Condolence Visit to Jigawa Governor Over Family Tragedy
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, visited Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi to commiserate with him and his family over the recent tragic losses of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi, and his son, Abdulwahab Namadi.
Hajia Maryam Namadi passed away peacefully, while the Governor's son, Abdulwahab, died in a fatal car accident. The dual losses have plunged the Namadi family and Jigawa State into mourning.
During the visit, Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed her heartfelt condolences to the Governor and his wife, Hajia Hadiza Umar Namadi. In her remarks, the First Lady emphasized the importance of faith and resilience during times of grief.
In one of the poignant moments, the First Lady was seen consoling Hajia Hadiza Umar Namadi, who showed immense strength despite the emotional toll of the tragedies.
Present at the condolence visit were prominent dignitaries, including the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; the Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abass; the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engr Aminu Usman Gumel; his wife, Hajia Aisha Aminu Usman; and one of the Governor’s children, Tahir Namadi.
In her address, the First Lady offered words of encouragement, stating, "This is a difficult time for the Namadi family, but I urge you to remain steadfast in your faith. May Allah grant the departed souls eternal rest and provide strength to the family."
Governor Umar Namadi expressed deep gratitude for the visit, thanking Senator Tinubu and the dignitaries for their support. He described the loss as a painful reality but noted that the outpouring of love and prayers from Nigerians had been a source of comfort.
The visit concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and for strength for the Namadi family to overcome the difficult period.
