Gaidam Urges Ministry Staff to Embrace Digital Transformation and Performance Excellence

The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on staff of the Ministry to fully commit to the principles of Performance Management Systems (PMS), Cloud Computing, and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) as part of efforts to enhance productivity and service delivery.

The Minister made this statement during a five-day intensive training program held at the conference room of the Federal Secretariat. The training, which focused on PMS Digitization, Cloud Computing Architecture, Implementation of IPPIS, and Anti-Corruption and Transparency Capacity Building, was designed to equip staff with modern tools and techniques to improve efficiency and accountability in the ministry.

Represented by the Acting Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Olure O. Amos, Senator Gaidam emphasized the importance of innovation and creativity in fulfilling the ministry’s mandate. According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Bolaji Kazeem, the Minister highlighted that embracing digital transformation would enable staff to deliver better services and drive Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.

Commitment to Excellence and Accountability

Senator Gaidam stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in public service, noting that the Performance Management System (PMS) links performance outcomes to rewards and recognition.

“It is pertinent for all to know that Nigerian citizens rely on us to execute policies, programs, and projects that enhance their well-being and contribute significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As custodians of public trust, we must remain transparent and accountable in our service delivery to promote sustainable development,” the Minister said.

He added that performance management serves as both an assessment tool and a roadmap for fostering innovation, growth, and excellence within the ministry.

Embracing Technology for Enhanced Service Delivery

Engr. Adetayo Olokunbola, one of the facilitators at the training, underscored the importance of e-government and digital transformation in improving government operations. He explained that while digitization focuses on converting data into digital formats, digitalization involves redesigning workflows to improve efficiency.

“The goal of e-government is to provide seamless services, creating an accessible mechanism for citizens and corporations to locate information and access services online. Security remains a top priority, so it is crucial to protect data,” Olokunbola emphasized.

The training aligns with the Ministry’s objective to adopt cutting-edge technologies and practices that will drive efficient service delivery, enhance employee performance, and support Nigeria’s long-term developmental goals.

By fostering a culture of innovation and accountability, the Ministry of Police Affairs is positioning itself to meet the needs of citizens effectively, thereby contributing to the nation’s overall progress.
