Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa Removed Over Alleged Financial Misconduct
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday removed its Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, over allegations of financial impropriety and statutory violations.
Obasa’s removal follows accusations of facilitating the withdrawal of N43.5 billion for the procurement of backup vehicles for lawmakers, among other contentious activities that have drawn public and legislative scrutiny.
In a swift move, the House appointed Deputy Speaker Lasbat Meranda as his replacement. Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1, previously served as the House’s Chief Whip and is widely regarded as a seasoned legislator.
This development marks a significant shake-up in the Assembly’s leadership, with further details on the matter expected in due course.
Stay tuned for updates.
