Anambra Governor Soludo Awards New Contracts for Urban Renewal, Flood Control

As part of his administration’s commitment to **urban regeneration and infrastructural development**, **Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo**, has approved a series of strategic contracts aimed at **beautifying Awka metropolis and tackling flooding** in key areas.  

The **Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC)**, at its **fourth meeting held on February 24, 2025**, approved multiple projects to enhance the state's infrastructure, according to a statement by **State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor**.  

### **Key Projects Approved by ANSEC**  

The newly awarded contracts include:  

- **Reconstruction and fortification of the perimeter fence** at the Commissioners' Quarters, Awka.  

- **Construction of two model gates at general hospitals**, alongside **landscaping, interlocking, and fencing** of **Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Hospital Compound**.  

- **Repainting and renovation of the VIP stand** in Awka.  

- **Flood and gully erosion control at the Cosmetics Market**, ensuring a safer and more business-friendly environment.  

### **Governor Soludo’s Road Infrastructure Achievements**  

Governor Soludo’s administration has **made significant strides in road construction and rehabilitation** across Anambra State. Some of the recently completed projects include:  

- **16.5km Nza Ozubulu-Ukpor Road in Ekwusigo Local Government Area**, resolving a long-standing **erosion crisis** that had affected the Ozubulu community for years.  

- **2.8km Nawfia Road in Njikoka Local Government Area**, providing a vital link between the **Awka-Onitsha Old Road and the Awka-Onitsha Expressway**.  

- **2.62km Bank Road in Nnewi**, enhancing connectivity to **St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Uruagu Nnewi**.  

### **Community Leaders Applaud Soludo’s Developmental Drive**  

Community leaders have hailed **Governor Soludo as the "Solution Governor"**, commending him for delivering key projects that **previous administrations abandoned**.  

> *“The governor is proving that he is a man of his word. This road had been neglected for years, but within a short time, he has delivered it to the people of Ozubulu,”* a community leader remarked.
