Glo Expands Nationwide Network Upgrade for Superior Customer Experience

Lagos, Nigeria – Telecommunications giant Globacom has intensified its nationwide network upgrade to enhance service delivery for its millions of subscribers.

The company announced that the latest phase of its network enhancement, launched last year, includes the nationwide rollout of new base transceiver stations and upgrades to existing ones. These efforts aim to provide high-speed connectivity and an improved data experience for its growing subscriber base.

In response to recent increases in telecom tariffs, Globacom reaffirmed its commitment to building a world-class telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining affordable voice and data services. The upgrade covers the entire scope of telecom infrastructure, from the core network to access networks, transmission, IP network, fiber network, metro access, backbone infrastructure, and power and environmental systems.

Over the past few months, Globacom has successfully deployed hundreds of new base transceiver stations across Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja. The company stated that the expansion is aimed at increasing network capacity, easing congestion, and improving both voice and data services.

To further enhance high-speed data availability, Globacom has introduced hundreds of LTE 2600 sites in key markets such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Kwara, as well as select tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra States.

As part of its support for the Federal Government’s broadband penetration initiative, Globacom has expanded data network capacity and upgraded infrastructure across 1,700 sites in states including Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau.

These measures aim to improve customer satisfaction through enhanced data speeds and network quality. Additionally, the company is deploying hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations to further boost coverage and capacity nationwide.

To support its growing infrastructure, Globacom has recently upgraded the capacity of its Glo1 submarine cable to optimize technical expansions and upgrades. This enhancement ensures a seamless calling and browsing experience for subscribers.

Furthermore, Globacom has launched a nationwide initiative to modernize its power and fiber infrastructure by deploying thousands of new generators and replacing outdated fiber routes with new ones. This move is designed to ensure reliable connectivity and uninterrupted service for users across Nigeria.

With these extensive upgrades, Globacom continues to reinforce its position as a leading digital solutions provider committed to delivering superior network performance and an enhanced customer experience.
