Dangote Cement Zambia Wins Three Sustainability Awards 

Lusaka, Zambia – Dangote Cement Zambia, a subsidiary of Dangote Cement Plc, has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, winning three prestigious awards at the 6th National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainability Awards in Lusaka.  

At the event, organized by **CSR Network Zambia, the company was honored with:  

- Food Security Initiative Award – *Excellence in Agriculture category  

- Best Waste Recycling Initiative Award – *Environmental Sustainability category*  

- Mental Healthcare Award– *Excellence in the Workplace category  

The award ceremony, held at the **Mulungushi International Conference Centre**, brought together over 60 major corporate organizations to celebrate outstanding contributions to CSR and sustainability.  

Speaking at the event, **Lee Muzala**, Executive Director of **CSR Network Zambia**, praised Dangote Cement Zambia for its exceptional impact on agriculture, environmental conservation, and workplace well-being.  

“Dangote Cement Zambia has demonstrated remarkable dedication to driving positive change in key sectors. These awards are a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and community empowerment,” Muzala stated.  

### **A Commitment to Sustainable Development**  

Receiving the awards on behalf of the company, **Victor Mpundu**, Head of Environment and Social Performance (Sustainability Lead), expressed gratitude for the recognition.  

“We are deeply honored to receive these prestigious awards. They reflect our strong commitment to sustainability and making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. At Dangote Cement, sustainability is not just a responsibility but a core value that drives our operations,” Mpundu said.  

The awards highlight Dangote Cement Zambia’s leadership in **food security through agricultural support**, **environmental conservation via innovative waste recycling**, and **employee well-being through mental health initiatives**. The recognition further reinforces the company’s status as a socially responsible corporate entity and a key contributor to Zambia’s sustainable development goals.

Dangote Cement Zambia operates a **1.5 million metric tons per annum (Mta)** fully integrated plant in **Ndola**. It is part of the larger **Dangote Cement Group**, which has operations across Africa, including:  

- **Cameroon** (1.5Mta clinker grinding)  

- **Congo** (1.5Mta)  

- **Ghana** (2.0Mta clinker grinding and import)  

- **Ethiopia** (2.5Mta)

With a total capacity of **52.0Mta across Africa**, Dangote Cement is the continent’s leading cement producer. In **Nigeria**, where it has its largest operations, the company has transformed the country from an importer to an exporter of cement and clinker, supplying neighboring markets.  

Dangote Cement’s **Obajana plant in Kogi State, Nigeria**, is the largest in Africa, boasting a **16.25Mta capacity across five production lines**. The **Ibese plant in Ogun State** has **12Mta**, while the **Gboko plant in Benue State** and the **Okpella plant in Edo State** have **4Mta** and **3Mta**, respectively.
