FirstBank Begins Construction of Nigeria’s Tallest Eco-Friendly Headquarters in Lagos
The new 40-story headquarters, poised to become Nigeria’s tallest building, is designed as an eco-friendly and technologically advanced structure that will redefine architectural and environmental standards in the African financial sector.
Speaking at the event, Olusegun Alebiosu, CEO of FirstBank Group, described the project as a testament to the bank’s dedication to excellence. “This headquarters will not only enhance operational efficiency but also reinforce our leadership in sustainable banking. It is a milestone that reflects our drive for innovation and customer-centric service,” he stated.
The bank, which has operated for over 130 years, maintains a strong presence in nine countries across three continents. With this project, it aims to set new benchmarks for green-certified buildings, reducing operational costs while promoting environmental responsibility.
Femi Otedola, Chairman of FirstHoldCo, emphasized the collaborative effort behind the initiative. “The success of this project relies on the unwavering support of our customers and stakeholders. This headquarters represents our vision for the future of banking in Africa,” he noted.
The ceremony attracted high-profile dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, federal lawmakers, state governors, ministers, and business leaders, underscoring the national significance of the development.
As construction begins, FirstBank continues to strengthen its legacy of financial leadership, innovation, and sustainability in Africa.
