Governor Aiyedatiwa Applauds Ajibola Adebutu’s Multi-Billion Naira Investment in Ondo Agriculture

Ondo State is reaffirming its status as a powerhouse in Nigeria’s agricultural sector with the establishment of the JB Palm Plantation and Processing Mill in Ore. This massive investment, spearheaded by the Managing Director/CEO of JB Farms Limited, Mr. Ajibola Adebutu, MON, marks one of the most significant agricultural developments in the state’s recent history.

Historically, Ondo State has been Nigeria’s leading cocoa producer, with vast arable land supporting the cultivation of oil palm, rubber, cassava, and other cash and food crops. Despite its wealth in crude oil and minerals, agriculture remains the backbone of the state’s economy. Recognizing this, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has pledged unwavering support for initiatives aimed at revitalizing the sector.

During a working visit to JB Farms, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed admiration for the scale of the project. “This is the biggest plantation I have seen. So much has gone into this place, including about 400km of road infrastructure leading to various farm clusters. This is large-scale mechanized farming at its best, and we will provide all necessary support, including security and an enabling environment,” he stated.

The JB Palm Plantation and Processing Mill is expected to transform the state’s economy by boosting oil palm production, which is essential for manufacturing cooking oil, margarine, soaps, cosmetics, and biofuels. Mr. Adebutu emphasized the project’s potential impact, stating, “This facility can process about 800 tonnes of palm fruit daily. Beyond agriculture, it will enhance security by eliminating criminal hideouts in this once-dense forest area. We are encouraging and challenging more investors to join in building the future of Nigeria.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa further demonstrated his commitment to agricultural development by planting a palm tree at the farm, symbolizing his administration’s dedication to food sufficiency, sustainable agriculture, and profitable agribusiness in Ondo State.

With this landmark investment, Ondo State is well on its way to reclaiming its position as the agricultural hub of Southwest Nigeria and the nation at large.
