IGP Egbetokun Appoints DCP Ahmed Lateef as PSO, Deploys CP Johnson to Oyo, CP Mamman to Enugu

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved key appointments and deployments within the Nigeria Police Force, including the appointment of **Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ahmed Lateef** as the new **Principal Staff Officer (PSO)** to the IGP.  

The announcement was made in a statement released by the **Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi**, and obtained by the *National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP)*.  

According to the statement, **DCP Ahmed Lateef** brings extensive experience to his new role, having served in various leadership capacities. Prior to this appointment, he was the **Police Operations and FPU Coordinator** for the **African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS)**. He also previously served as the **Personal Assistant to former IGP MD Abubakar** and worked as a **Zonal Head of Operations and lead cybercrime investigator** with the **Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)**. DCP Lateef has attended several professional courses both locally and internationally.  

### **New Police Commissioners for Oyo and Enugu**  

In another strategic move, **Commissioner of Police (CP) Johnson Adenola** has been deployed to **Oyo State Command**. Prior to his posting, CP Adenola served as the **Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP**, where he played a key role in the administration of the Force.  

Similarly, **CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa** has been appointed as the new **Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command**, following the promotion of **AIG Uzuegbu Kanayo**. CP Mamman previously held positions including **Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) in the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Headquarters**, as well as **DC Operations in Kaduna State Command**.  

### **Strengthening Leadership for Effective Policing**  

The IGP emphasized that these appointments are part of broader efforts to **enhance leadership capacity** and ensure **effective policing nationwide**.  

> *“These strategic deployments are aimed at strengthening the leadership capacity of the Force and ensuring effective policing across the country,”* the statement read.  

The IGP further charged the newly appointed officers to uphold the **core values and ethics of the Force**, which are **decency, transparency, and accountability**, in their respective roles.  

With these new appointments, the Nigeria Police Force continues to reinforce its commitment to **professionalism, security, and public service delivery** across the nation.
