IGP Egbetokun Decorates AIG Tunji Disu; Dr. Ayo Ogunsan Applauds His Excellence

Abuja, March 25, 2025 – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has officially decorated Olatunji Disu with his new rank as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). The decoration ceremony took place today at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, in the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, a Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), as well as AIG Disu’s wife and mother.  

The promotion follows the approval by the Police Service Commission at the request of the IGP, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing reform agenda that has witnessed an unprecedented number of promotions within a short period.  

AIG Disu Among Prominent Officers Elevated  

AIG Olatunji Disu was among several senior officers who were elevated to the AIG rank, including Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Abubakar, Patrick Adedeji Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Victor Mobolaji, Chukwudi Ariekpere, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Olaolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, Dan-Mamman Shawulu, Clement Robert, Musa Auwal Mohammed, Thomas Abraham Nabhoni, Abel Jangnap Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.  

Additionally, several Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to Commissioners of Police (CPs), including Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Adewale Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, Ajo Geofrey Oroue, Olufunke Ogunbode, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, Yemi Oyeniyi, Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdulsalam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.  

IGP’s Call for Excellence in Policing 

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, IGP Egbetokun urged them to adopt a strategic and progressive approach to policing. He emphasized the importance of supporting ongoing reforms aimed at improving the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.  

Dr. Ayo Ogunsan Commends AIG Disu’s Leadership  

In his congratulatory message, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan praised AIG Disu’s outstanding career and dedication to excellence in policing.  

“Our new AIG Olatunji Disu is one of the finest police officers I have met. I have tremendous respect for him,” Ogunsan stated.  

He further described Disu as a “dogged crime fighter, a diligent personality, and a stickler for excellence.”  

“As you continue to serve, I pray that the Almighty God grants you wisdom and strength to achieve greater success in the Nigeria Police Force. Congratulations, Sir AIG Olatunji Disu,” Ogunsan added.  

The event marked yet another step in the ongoing transformation of the Nigeria Police Force, as the newly decorated officers take on their roles in shaping the future of law enforcement in the country.
