The initiative, which aims to promote preventive healthcare and provide medical assistance to underserved populations, is expected to benefit over 2,000 residents. The program offers a wide range of medical services, including:
- General medical consultations
- Blood sugar checks

- HIV and tuberculosis (TB) testing
- Kidney function tests
- Deworming for children
- Free medication distribution
Addressing the community at the event, Dr. Akintayo Idowu, the Medical Officer for Ikoyi-Obalende Local Government, emphasized the importance of health awareness and preventive care.
"This program is designed to enlighten people about their health, provide essential medical services, and enroll residents in the government's free health insurance scheme. We want to ensure that preventable diseases do not claim lives unnecessarily," he stated.
Dr. Idowu also commended Ikoyi-Obalende Local Government Chairman, Hon. Fuad Oki, for his proactive leadership and dedication to improving healthcare access for residents.
"Chairman Fuad Oki is a responsive leader who listens to the needs of the people. If the turnout for this outreach exceeds expectations, he is willing to expand the initiative to accommodate more beneficiaries," Dr. Idowu added.
A Lifeline for the Community
Dr. Dare Jamogha, the Coordinator of the Medical Outreach, explained that the program is community-based and designed to cater to both adults and children. He stressed the importance of regular health check-ups and medical advocacy, noting that follow-up care will be provided to those who require continued treatment.
Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its positive impact on their lives. Mr. Ibrahim Adekunle, a resident of Obalende, praised the chairman for consistently prioritizing the community’s welfare.
"This is not the first time Hon. Fuad Oki has brought healthcare programs to us. He has been actively improving our lives since he took office, and we hope this free medical service continues," he said.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Florence Dennis, also commended the chairman, saying:
"This program is a blessing. Beyond healthcare, the chairman has done a lot for our community, and we truly appreciate his efforts."
Sustained Commitment to Healthcare Access
Speaking at the event, Hon. Fuad Oki, the Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Government, reiterated his commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all residents.
"Our goal is to identify the most pressing needs of our community and find sustainable solutions. Through this initiative, beneficiaries will be enrolled in a one-year free health insurance scheme, ensuring they can access medical care beyond today's outreach," he announced.
Hon. Oki emphasized that the program would not be a one-time intervention, but a continuous project aimed at improving the overall well-being of residents. He also acknowledged the invaluable support of Seyi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative, stating that collaborative efforts between government and private initiatives are essential in tackling healthcare challenges.
"Healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are committed to providing the basic medical services our people need. This is just the beginning," he added.
The free medical outreach program underscores the importance of community-driven healthcare initiatives and sets a precedent for other local governments to follow in ensuring that no resident is left behind when it comes to quality medical care.
