Lagos CP Jimoh Proposes ‘Eko Strike Force’ to Boost Security, Visits LSSTF

**Lagos, Nigeria –** In a strategic move to enhance security across Lagos, **Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh**, has proposed the creation of the **Eko Strike Force**, a specialized unit aimed at policing the suburbs while complementing the **Rapid Response Squad (RRS)** in urban centers.  

The CP unveiled this plan during his **inaugural visit** to the **Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF)**, where he engaged with **LSSTF Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun**, Board Member **Dr. Ayo Ogunsan**, and key security stakeholders.  

### **Eko Strike Force: A Game-Changer for Lagos Security**  

The **Eko Strike Force**, modeled after the **United Nations Habitat’s Policing Urban Space initiative**, is designed to **decentralize tactical policing**. While **RRS will focus on major urban areas**, the new unit will **patrol hard-to-reach suburbs**, ensuring a **wider security coverage**.  

Additionally, CP Jimoh proposed **relocating key police tactical units** currently concentrated in **Ikeja** to other parts of the state, including **Epe, Ikorodu, and Idimu**, to **improve response times and security coordination**.  

LSSTF Executive Secretary Calls for Police Reform**  

Speaking during the meeting, **Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun** expressed concerns over police conduct, urging CP Jimoh to **address issues of police brutality**, which he said remain a **sensitive issue** following the **#EndSARS protests**.  

*"What caused the EndSARS riot is still happening. We need to educate officers on civility because they are the ones interacting with the public daily. This new strike force must be well-trained to operate in a democratic system and be accountable to civil authority,"* Balogun stated.  

He further **advocated for a multi-sectoral approach to crime prevention**, emphasizing the role of **urban planning, abandoned properties, and improved surveillance** in reducing criminal activities.  

### **CP Jimoh: A New Strategy for Lagos Security**  

In response, CP Jimoh assured stakeholders of his commitment to **modernizing security strategies**, highlighting how **Lagos’ security model** is being **replicated across the country**, including in **Abuja**.  

*"We want to do things differently. The Eko Strike Force will have an overt team for visible policing and a covert squad operating undercover. These teams will be strategically stationed to swiftly respond to incidents across the state,"* he explained.  

CP Jimoh also emphasized the need to **sectorize Lagos for better crisis management**, revealing plans to **relocate some Mobile Police (MOPOL) units from Ikeja to Oko Baba and Idimu** for enhanced statewide coverage.
