NSCDC Lagos Condemns Social Vices at Maiden Ramadan Public Lecture

Lagos, Nigeria – March 11, 2025 – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has strongly condemned the rising cases of vandalism, ritual killings, kidnapping, fraud, and other social vices in society. The Command made this known during its inaugural Ramadan Public Lecture, held at its headquarters on Tuesday.

In his keynote address, Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, denounced the alarming surge in criminal activities, stressing that these acts undermine national development and the sanctity of human life. He called on residents of Lagos to embrace moral values and religious teachings that promote love, unity, patience, and tolerance.

"The Ramadan and Lenten seasons remind us of the need for piety, modesty, vigilance, and brotherhood. We must reject all forms of crime and work together to create a just and peaceful society," Keshinro stated.

The guest lecturer, Dr. Nurudeen Ibrahim, emphasized the sanctity of human life, describing unlawful killings as an abomination in all ethical and religious contexts. He urged Nigerians to renounce such barbaric practices and uphold societal values.

Commending the NSCDC for its efforts, Hon. Abdulkareem Jubril, the Honourable Member representing Agege II and Chairman of the event, praised the initiative as a crucial step in sensitizing the public on the dangers of crime.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria (Mother of the Day), and Hon. Oladeebo Olaide, the Special Guest representative. Also present were Islamic scholar Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmad Olanrewaju Al-Fulani, senior officials from various security agencies, and members of the press.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to enhance security, peace, and national development through continuous public enlightenment and law enforcement.
