Olivet Baptist High School Alumni Unveil 80th Anniversary Celebration Plans

Oyo, Nigeria | March 16, 2025**  

The **Olivet Baptist High School National Old Students’ Association (NOSA)** has officially unveiled plans for the school’s **80th Anniversary celebration**, scheduled to hold from **April 10 to 13, 2025**. The three-day event will serve as a **grand reunion for alumni** and a platform to drive critical **development projects** aimed at restoring and enhancing the school’s legacy.  

One of the highlights of the celebration is a **major fundraising initiative** set for **Saturday, April 12**, which will rally alumni across the world to contribute towards **Legacy Projects** focused on infrastructural and technological advancements at **Olivet Heights, Oyo**.  

In a joint statement, **Dr. Wale Okediran, President of NOSA, and Dr. Olusegun K. Ahmadu, Chairman of the 80th Anniversary Central Planning Committee**, emphasized that the event would celebrate the school’s **rich history and enduring impact** while also mobilizing resources for its continued transformation.  

> **“For 80 years, Olivet Heights has been a beacon of academic excellence, shaping generations of leaders and innovators. This milestone is not just about celebrating our past but also about investing in the future of our alma mater,”** they stated.  

### **Fundraising and Digital Engagement to Unite Alumni Worldwide**  

Over the years, the **Old Students’ Association** has initiated several **transformative projects**, including:  

- Upgrading of learning facilities and sports complexes  

- Construction of the school hall and main entrance gate  

- Donation of computers and learning aids  

The upcoming **80th Anniversary Fundraising** will further support initiatives aimed at **modernizing the school’s infrastructure and enhancing its learning environment**.  

To foster greater alumni engagement, NOSA has also introduced a **Twitter Space conversation**, bringing together former students across various graduating sets. A **comprehensive documentary** chronicling the school’s evolution and notable alumni will also be digitally promoted.  

Additionally, alumni worldwide are encouraged to **register via an online platform** to ensure seamless participation in the celebrations and updates on future initiatives.  

### **A Historic Legacy of Excellence**  

Established on **January 29, 1945**, Olivet Baptist High School—formerly **Baptist Boys' High School**—was founded by the **American International Mission Board** and is affiliated with the **Nigerian Baptist Convention**. Initially located at **Oke-Isokun, Oyo**, it now sits along the **Old Ibadan–Oyo Road**.  

Olivet Heights was among Nigeria’s pioneering schools outside Lagos to feature **hostel facilities, staff quarters, and state-of-the-art laboratories**. It also boasted **agricultural centers, technical workshops, and extensive sports facilities**, producing top achievers in academics, debates, and athletics.
