Pastor Adeboye Disowns AI-Generated Videos Promoting Drugs, Scholarships

Lagos, March 26, 2025 – The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has strongly disassociated himself from AI-generated videos falsely depicting him endorsing drugs and scholarships.

In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Pastor Adeboye warned the public against deceptive content being circulated by fraudulent platforms, including “Africa Health Centre” and “Church-Funded Scholarships.”

Fake AI Videos Designed to Mislead

Pastor Adeboye expressed concern over the spread of AI-generated content designed to deceive the public.

“These videos are NOT from me, and I want to make it clear that I have no involvement in such promotions,” he stated.

He urged people to refrain from sharing or engaging with such content and encouraged them to report the fraudulent accounts responsible for spreading the misinformation.

Authorities Addressing the Issue

The revered cleric assured Nigerians that the relevant authorities were already taking steps to tackle the issue. He emphasized that God’s name should not be misused for deceptive purposes.

AI Deepfakes and the Rising Threat of Misinformation

AI-generated videos featuring influential figures—politicians, religious leaders, and celebrities—have become increasingly common on social media, often used to manipulate public perception and push false narratives.

Pastor Adeboye’s warning serves as a wake-up call about the dangers of AI-generated misinformation and the need for vigilance in verifying online content.
