Easter: LAWMA Assures Lagosians of Clean, Hygienic Environment
Urges Public Support for a Cleaner Celebration
Lagos, Nigeria – As residents gear up for the 2025 Easter festivities, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has pledged to ensure a clean and healthy environment across the state before, during, and after the celebrations.
In a statement issued from its headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, assured Lagosians of smooth and effective waste management operations throughout the holiday period.
“To ensure residents celebrate this year’s Easter in a clean atmosphere, we will be deploying trucks and personnel across the city,” he said. “Our Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators have been directed to carry out their duties diligently, and LAWMA will provide direct backup support where necessary to guarantee zero waste accumulation.”
Dr. Gbadegesin urged residents to properly bag their waste, patronize only assigned PSP operators, and ensure prompt payment of waste bills to sustain consistent service delivery. He emphasized that LAWMA remains resolute in its mission to promote environmental sustainability in Lagos.
He also warned against illegal dumping, reckless driving, and any activities that could compromise environmental standards during the festive period.
“Our operations team, including street sweepers and sanitation workers, will remain active during the holidays. We urge motorists to be cautious and respectful of the safety of our personnel. Keeping Lagos clean is a shared responsibility,” he stated.
While wishing all residents a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration, the LAWMA boss encouraged the public to use the agency’s customer support channels to report any waste-related concerns.
