Pa Fasoranti Commends President Tinubu’s Leadership as First Lady Visits Ondo

Akure, Ondo State – April 17, 2025 —
Elder statesman and National Leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has expressed his satisfaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, commending his administration for its strides in national development.

Pa Fasoranti gave the commendation during a courtesy visit by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to his Akure residence in Ondo State. The 98-year-old elder statesman noted that President Tinubu had “surpassed expectations” and prayed for continued divine guidance and strength for the President.

The First Lady, who described the visit as informal, said it was an opportunity to personally deliver warm greetings from the President to a man they both regard as a father figure. Her visit is part of a two-day working trip to Ondo State, where she is spearheading several empowerment and health-related initiatives under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

Earlier, Senator Tinubu held a meeting with over 60 traditional rulers in the state, led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Ogunlade, who stood in for the Chairman of the State Traditional Council, the Olowo of Owo. The monarchs lauded President Tinubu’s administration and pledged to amplify the message of the Renewed Hope Initiative—particularly its health campaigns on tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and anti-stigmatization—to their communities.

The traditional rulers also declared their support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

As part of her visit, the First Lady proceeded to the Dome in Akure, where she formally distributed professional kits—comprising 10,000 branded scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs—to midwives across the South West geopolitical zone. This is the fifth zone to benefit from the RHI's intervention for frontline health workers.

Welcoming the First Lady, the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, thanked her for her consistent advocacy for women, youth, and children. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa also commended the Tinubu-led administration for its developmental initiatives in the state, citing the establishment of an Air Force school in Akure and the elevation of Adeyemi College of Education to a University of Education.

In her keynote address, Senator Tinubu praised health workers for their commitment and urged them to prioritize continuous professional development.

"This event complements the ongoing Federal Government retraining programme for 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide. So far, over 59,000 have completed the training. The Renewed Hope Initiative has provided 60,000 scrubs and crocs as motivation for their dedication," she stated.

The First Lady also acknowledged the efforts of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, and the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muyi Aina, for their work in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system.

To support women entrepreneurs in the state, Senator Tinubu presented a N50 million grant to Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa for disbursement to 1,000 women petty traders. Among them, 200 women in the fabric trade also received two bales of materials each to bolster their businesses.

The Renewed Hope Initiative, launched in 2023, continues to focus on targeted interventions in agriculture, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and social investment, aiming to uplift communities across Nigeria.
