IGP Egbetokun Celebrates Retired IGP MD Abubakar at 65

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended warm birthday wishes to former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar (Rtd), on the occasion of his 65th birthday, celebrated today, May 5, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the IGP lauded the retired police chief for his outstanding contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and national security.

"The Inspector-General of Police, on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, congratulates retired IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, as he marks another milestone today," the statement read.

IGP Egbetokun praised the legacy of the retired IGP, describing his tenure as one marked by impactful leadership, commitment to duty, and notable reforms that continue to inspire serving officers.

“The entire police family celebrates his dedication and service to the nation, and we wish him good health, a long life, and continued peace,” the statement added.

Retired IGP MD Abubakar served as Nigeria's 16th Inspector-General of Police from 2012 to 2014, during which he initiated key reforms aimed at repositioning the Force for greater professionalism and efficiency.
