As Lagos gears up for its vibrant Detty December festivities, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is exploring a strategic partnership with MyLagosApp, a digital platform designed to enhance tourism, hospitality, transportation, and entertainment experiences across the state.
During a meeting held at his Alausa office on Monday, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, welcomed the app's convener, Ifeoma Chukwu, and expressed optimism about the collaboration.
Aregbe described the initiative as timely and aligned with the state’s push for innovation-driven tourism. “We need better synergy to tell our stories effectively and position Lagos as a premier destination for tourism and entertainment in Africa,” he said. “A tech-driven approach like MyLagosApp supports this vision.”
With preparations underway for the end-of-year celebrations, Aregbe emphasised the need for early coordination among stakeholders. He revealed that the Ministry is planning a two-day event to unveil its festive season roadmap and called on event planners and promoters to register their activities in advance.
“Detty December planning begins in October and November. Early registration is essential for coordinated scheduling, public safety, and seamless support from the state,” he noted.
He also stressed the importance of integrating private and public efforts to maintain safety standards, avoid event clashes, and enhance the overall Lagos brand experience. “This is not just about visibility; it’s about responsibility,” Aregbe added.
Speaking on the app’s potential, Chukwu said MyLagosApp is built to serve as a central hub for real-time updates on events, nightlife, accommodation, and traffic. She noted that the platform would help both residents and tourists enjoy a seamless and well-informed experience.
“Our goal is to work closely with the Ministry to showcase Lagos in its full vibrancy,” she said. Chukwu also disclosed plans for the official launch of the app, adding that endorsement from the Ministry would further boost its credibility and reach.
The collaboration signals the government’s increasing reliance on digital solutions to enhance service delivery and support Lagos' image as a leading cultural and entertainment hub in Africa.
