LG/LCDA Polls: Chairmanship Aspirant Hails President Tinubu for Opposing Candidate Imposition in Agege

Agege Local Government chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Taiwo Olasunkanmi Samuel, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his recent intervention against the imposition of candidates in the build-up to the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.

In an open letter addressed to the President, Hon. Olasunkanmi, popularly known as TOS, described the decision as a demonstration of democratic leadership and a step toward ensuring fair play in grassroots politics.

According to him, President Tinubu's directive has restored faith in the democratic process, especially among aspirants who might otherwise be sidelined due to lack of political connections.

“When everyone is allowed to play on a level playing field, it ensures that the best man for the job gets the job,” Olasunkanmi stated, adding that the intervention has rekindled hope for inclusiveness and equity in political participation.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant in the upcoming July 12 local government elections also praised the President’s continued interest in the affairs of the grassroots, noting that his leadership has remained responsive and people-focused.

“I want to thank our President and Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for not abandoning us at the grassroots even while leading at the center. Your leadership continues to guide the party in the right direction,” he said.

Olasunkanmi, who also leads the Agege Renewed Hope Movement, remarked that the President's involvement has strengthened confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes and encouraged wider political participation across local communities.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of his supporters and other aspirants who believe in fair contest, pledging that they would uphold the values of transparency and accountability in their campaigns.

The APC primaries for local government chairmanship and councillorship positions in Lagos State are scheduled to take place in the lead-up to the general elections on July 12.
