NNPC Announces Planned Maintenance Shutdown of Port Harcourt Refinery


The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), set to commence on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

In an official statement released by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPC Ltd disclosed that the planned shutdown is part of ongoing sustainability assessments and routine maintenance aimed at optimizing operations at the refinery.

The company assured the public that it is working in close coordination with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance activities are executed efficiently, transparently, and with minimal disruption.

“NNPC Ltd remains fully committed to delivering sustainable energy security for the nation. This maintenance schedule is a proactive step towards ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of the Port Harcourt refinery,” the statement read.

The company added that further updates will be shared with the public through its official communication channels, including its website, social media platforms, and official press releases.

The Port Harcourt Refining Company is one of Nigeria’s key refining assets, and its performance is central to the country’s drive for increased domestic refining capacity.
