Glo Kicks Off Ojude Oba 2025 with Star-Studded Music Extravaganza in Ijebu Ode

Telecommunications giant, Globacom, on Friday night flagged off the 2025 edition of the annual Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, with a spectacular musical event featuring legendary Juju maestro, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, and Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1).

The thrilling entertainment night, held at the Conference Hall in Ijebu Ode, served as an exciting prelude to the main cultural celebration scheduled for Sunday morning at the purpose-built Ojude Oba Pavilion. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Globacom’s consistent sponsorship of the festival.

Guests at the event were treated to classic hits from Chief Ebenezer Obey’s extensive repertoire, with the packed audience dancing, singing along, and celebrating the rich musical heritage of Yorubaland. KWAM 1 also delivered an electrifying performance that further energized the audience.

Globacom described the event, themed Evening with Glo, as a gesture of appreciation to the Ijebu community for two decades of unwavering support for the brand.

“We decided to bring together great sons and daughters of Ijebuland to celebrate our shared heritage and indulge in the melodious rhythms that resonate deeply throughout Yorubaland,” the company stated.

Explaining its choice of performers, Globacom noted that Chief Ebenezer Obey remains a timeless figure whose philosophical and inspirational songs have touched lives across generations.

On KWAM 1, the company added, “For decades, the King of Fuji, K1 De Ultimate, has remained a dominant force in Nigeria’s music scene with his unique style that continues to attract large followership.”

Dignitaries present at the event included Chief Mrs. Olukemi Adetona, wife of the Awujale of Ijebuland; Coordinator of the Ojude Oba Planning Committee, Professor Fassy Yusuff; and Chief Mrs. Bisi Osibogun, the Iyalode of Ijebuland and member of the committee.

Globacom’s long-standing sponsorship has helped position the Ojude Oba Festival as not only a revered cultural celebration but also a growing tourist attraction with potential for international heritage recognition.
