Ministry of Police Affairs Commissions Modern Staff Clinic in Abuja

The Ministry of Police Affairs has commissioned a fully equipped staff clinic designed to deliver free, high-quality healthcare to its employees and their children. The facility, located on the 2nd floor of Phase III of the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia.

In a statement made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Mr. Bolaji Oladimeji Kazeem, the clinic is part of the current management’s commitment to staff welfare and workplace productivity.

Dr. Anuma revealed that although the idea for the clinic was conceived three years ago, it only became a reality under the present leadership. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with Pillar Six of the 2025 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 25), which focuses on staff welfare and productivity. The plan was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in December 2021.

“The establishment of this clinic addresses a critical need. Staff often lose productive hours visiting hospitals outside the office. With this in-house clinic, they can receive timely, high-quality care without leaving the premises,” Dr. Anuma stated.

He affirmed that the Ministry, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, is committed to ensuring that staff have access to evidence-based medical services at no cost, including treatment for their children.

The Permanent Secretary urged staff to make use of the facility when unwell. “If you are sick, don’t stay at home. Come to the office and take time out to visit the clinic. We have a competent team including a doctor, nurses, a matron, pharmacist, attendant, and a medical laboratory scientist. The clinic is fully equipped with modern diagnostic tools and stocked with a wide range of medications,” he said.

The new staff clinic is part of broader efforts by the Ministry to improve staff welfare, reduce absenteeism due to health issues, and enhance overall efficiency within the civil service.
