A New Dawn in Ibeju-Lekki as Hon. Olowa Resumes for Second Term

Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos – July 29, 2025

There was jubilation across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government on Monday as Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa officially resumed office for a second term as Executive Chairman. Hon. Olowa, who also serves as the Chairman of the Conference 57—an umbrella body for all local government chairmen in Lagos State—was welcomed with fanfare by an enthusiastic crowd at the council secretariat.

The resumption ceremony followed the official proclamation of the new legislative term at the Council’s Legislative Chambers. Hon. Olowa arrived in the company of his Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, to a rousing reception by traditional rulers, political leaders, corporate stakeholders, council staff, family members, party loyalists, and residents.

In an emotion-laden address, Hon. Olowa expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God and appreciated the people of Ibeju-Lekki for their unwavering support and the confidence reposed in his leadership. He also acknowledged his recent election as Chairman of Chairmen of Conference 57, describing it as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility.

“Your support, unity, and belief in our shared vision have made Ibeju-Lekki a model of progress,” Hon. Olowa said. “I remain committed to delivering on the mandate with renewed passion and purpose.”

The Chairman reflected on his first-term achievements and reiterated his commitment to the S.H.I.E.E.L.D Agenda — a comprehensive development framework focusing on Social Services, Health, Infrastructure, Education, Economic Growth, Leadership, and Environmental Renewal.

He assured constituents that his administration would build on past successes and deepen the impact of ongoing developmental initiatives to enhance the quality of life for all residents.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included Alhaji Bode Kashif Oyedele, Alhaji Tunde Isiaq, Hon. Muslim Folami, former Council Vice Chairman Hon. Jelili Odofin, and Hon. Wasiu Olaomopo Ayeola. Others were representatives of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) led by Alhaji Sulyman Bello, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), League of Imams and Alfas, AOPSHON, and the League of School Principals.

The event was marked by goodwill messages, cultural displays, and warm exchanges as community members celebrated what many described as a new chapter for the council.
