Archbishop Tom Samson Unveils Monarch University in Ota, Targets IT-Driven, Entrepreneurial Education
Admissions Ongoing as University Targets Academic Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Character Building
Ota, Ogun State — In a landmark development for Nigeria’s education sector, Archbishop Tom Samson, renowned educationist and founder of multiple schools across Lagos and Ogun states, has unveiled his latest venture—Monarch University, a private, IT-driven tertiary institution located at Iyana Iyesi, Ota. The university recently secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and is set to commence academic activities in September 2025.
Speaking during a press conference held with members of the media, Archbishop Samson, the founder and proprietor of Monarch University, traced his journey in education, which began 18 years ago with the establishment of a nursery and primary school in Egbeda, Lagos. Today, his educational network includes over ten primary and secondary schools and a College of Education affiliated with Ekiti State University.
“We have schools in Egbeda, Ogba, Ikeja, and Ota, and we’ve been raising future leaders over the past 15 years. By the grace of God, we now have Monarch University, which has received NUC approval and will take off in September,” he said.

According to Prof. Ogunaike, the name Monarch was chosen to reflect themes of royalty, excellence, and leadership. “We are not just another faith-based university.
