BL Practice Hub, Opus Racing Promotions Partner to Boost Nigeria’s Bid for Formula 1 Grand Prix

Abuja, Nigeria – July 24, 2025

In a major step toward bringing the world’s most prestigious motorsport event to Nigeria, BL Practice Hub has announced a strategic partnership with Opus Racing Promotions in support of the country’s ambitious bid to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix.

This landmark collaboration is being spearheaded by Oyebiyi Ladapo, Principal Partner at BL Practice Hub and a renowned expert in law and government relations. The project, which has the backing of the National Sports Commission (NSC), seeks to position Abuja as a potential host city for the first Formula 1 race on African soil since the 1993 South African Grand Prix.

The joint effort by BL Practice Hub and Opus Racing Promotions aims to harness the global appeal of Formula 1 to drive tourism, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic growth while promoting Nigeria’s international image and influence.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, has already taken proactive steps by extending formal invitations to key global F1 stakeholders. These include F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, and the renowned circuit designers Tilke Engineers & Architects, to explore the feasibility of hosting the event in Nigeria.

“This partnership is not just about motorsport. It’s about unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential, showcasing our capabilities on the world stage, and creating lasting value for our people,” said Oyebiyi Ladapo.

With South Africa and Rwanda also in the race to bring Formula 1 back to Africa, Nigeria’s proposal stands out for its integrated development vision, government support, and strategic international outreach.

If successful, the event would mark a historic moment for the continent and place Nigeria firmly on the global motorsports map.
