Governor Soludo's ANSEC Approves Cohort Two of One-Youth-Two-Skills Scheme

Awka, July 23, 2025 — The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), under the leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the commencement of Cohort Two of the One-Youth-Two-Skills Scheme, following the remarkable success of the first batch of the programme.

The approval was granted during ANSEC’s 15th meeting held on July 21, 2025, at the Government House’s Light House in Awka. The Council also gave the green light for the release of funds to contractors to facilitate full-scale implementation of the second phase.

The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, disclosed that the Council reviewed the outcome of the first cohort, where 7,163 out of 11,000 trainees excelled in 65 skill areas. In addition, 235 apprentices from the Local Enterprise Development programme across the 21 local government areas of the state also recorded success, with more than 1,000 of them reportedly becoming millionaires through skills they acquired.

“Funds for the empowerment of Cohort Two have been approved, and they are now set for commissioning,” Dr. Mefor stated.

The One-Youth-Two-Skills Scheme forms a key part of Governor Soludo’s broader vision to empower Anambra youth through technology and entrepreneurship. Earlier, during its 13th meeting, ANSEC had also approved a start-up business incubation programme coordinated by the Solution Innovation District (SID), aimed at helping early-stage businesses gain market traction.

This SID-led initiative aligns with the governor’s innovation-driven agenda to position Anambra as a tech and enterprise hub. It offers participants the opportunity to build scalable, tech-enabled solutions in sectors such as education, health, fintech, and agriculture.

A highlight of the programme is a final Demo Day, where entrepreneurs will showcase their innovations to investors and gain access to business registration, mentorship, and legal support.

So far, over 30,000 individuals have benefitted from digital skills training through the Solution Innovation District, making them employable both locally and internationally.

Other training initiatives under Governor Soludo’s administration include Code Anambra, a specialised digital training programme, and the One Million Digital Tribe, a digital upskilling initiative. Graduates from these programmes have not only gained employment but have also received laptops and other tools to support their continued growth.

These youth-focused schemes underscore Governor Soludo’s commitment to building a digitally literate, self-reliant, and globally competitive generation in Anambra State.
