IGP Egbetokun Salutes POWA at 2025 National Convention, Reaffirms Commitment to Police Welfare

Lagos, Nigeria – July 30, 2025: The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) on the occasion of its 2025 Annual National Convention, which commenced today in Lagos.

Held under the theme “Unlocking POWA Potentials and Transformational Leadership,” the three-day event runs from July 30 to August 1, 2025, and is being hosted at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island. The convention aims to reinforce POWA’s growing role in the empowerment of police families and national development.

The opening ceremony attracted dignitaries from across the country, including senior government officials, traditional rulers, diplomats, women leaders, and senior police officers, all gathered to support POWA’s mission of transformation and innovation.

IGP Egbetokun, in a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, praised the leadership of the association’s National President, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her progressive strides in repositioning POWA as a force for empowerment and social impact.

He noted that the 2025 convention represents a defining moment in POWA’s evolution, spotlighting its commitment to strategic partnerships, leadership development, and innovative approaches that address the changing needs of police families.

The convention is packed with empowerment workshops, sporting events, and wellness activities geared toward promoting the mental, physical, and economic well-being of members. The IGP emphasized that these activities are not only beneficial for the women involved but also contribute significantly to fostering resilient police families and a more stable society.

In reaffirming the Force's support, IGP Egbetokun stressed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the improved welfare of both serving and retired officers, pledging ongoing efforts to provide better support systems for personnel and their families.

The IGP’s message underscored the vital role POWA continues to play in complementing the efforts of the Police Force, particularly in building stronger communities through family-centered initiatives and women empowerment.
