Lagos Set to Launch ‘Produce for Lagos’ Initiative to Revolutionize Food Supply Chain

Lagos, Nigeria – July 20, 2025 – In just three days, Lagos State will launch a transformative agricultural initiative aimed at redefining food distribution and boosting national food security. The Produce for Lagos programme, scheduled for official launch on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, is a bold move to connect producers across Nigeria with one of Africa’s most dynamic consumer markets.

Spearheaded by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with the Lagos Food Systems Infrastructure Company, the programme is designed to create a seamless supply chain from farm to market. It leverages technology, strategic logistics, and a public-private partnership model to ensure that food gets to consumers efficiently, affordably, and sustainably.

At its core, Produce for Lagos is about more than just food transportation. It is a blueprint for inclusive economic growth — aggregating produce directly from smallholder farmers, reducing post-harvest losses, stabilizing food prices, and guaranteeing consistent supply to urban centers.

According to stakeholders, the programme is expected to serve as a model for how states can work with the private sector to build resilient food systems capable of withstanding shocks and meeting the nutritional needs of growing populations.

With the countdown now on, anticipation is building among farmers, food processors, logistics operators, and consumers alike. The launch event promises to unveil not only the logistics and aggregation framework, but also the broader vision for transforming agriculture into a driver of prosperity and stability across Nigeria.

The Lagos State Government has urged stakeholders and citizens to join the movement and be part of the transformation.
