Ojodu Market Leaders Declare Unwavering Support for Chairman Segun Odumbaku Ahead of July 12 LG Poll

…Council boss unveils 'HEYS Reloaded' agenda, pledges deeper grassroots development

Ojodu, Lagos – July 9, 2025 — With the highly anticipated local government elections just days away, traders, artisans, party stakeholders, and community leaders in Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of the council chairman, Hon. Segun Odumbaku, reaffirming their support for continuity and development.

At a vibrant solidarity rally held at the Ojodu market arena, market leaders under the umbrella of the Market Men and Women Association of Ojodu LCDA, declared their full endorsement of Odumbaku, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the July 12 elections. The event, attended by grassroots leaders, party stalwarts, and campaign council officials, marked a turning point in the campaign as enthusiasm surged among the locals.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, Alhaja Naimot Aduni Salako, the Iya Oloja General of Ojodu LCDA, described the council chairman as a man of the people whose leadership had transformed the market and the entire community.

“We are coming out en masse on July 12 to vote for Hon. Segun Odumbaku and all APC councillorship candidates. This is our way of showing appreciation for the infrastructure, empowerment, and support we've received during his tenure,” she said to loud cheers.

Also addressing the crowd, respected community leader Chief Kehinde Omolabi praised the chairman for his proactive approach to governance. According to him, Odumbaku’s administration has brought visible progress across sectors, especially in health, youth empowerment, and urban renewal.

“We must show our appreciation not only with words but with votes. This is a government that listens, acts, and delivers,” he added.

The event also witnessed a show of unity from within the APC leadership in Ojodu LCDA. Alhaja Layeni, the APC vice chairmanship candidate, pledged her commitment to supporting the chairman’s vision, promising to build on the gains already made and ensure continued delivery of the dividends of democracy.

Hon. Ajala, Director-General of the Ojodu Campaign Council, rallied supporters to mobilize for a landslide victory.

“With what we are seeing, Ojodu is set to deliver over 20,000 votes for APC. Let everyone bring out their Permanent Voter Cards. Let your vote count!” he charged.

Echoing similar sentiments, Alhaja Kokumo, the APC chairman in Ojodu LCDA, passionately urged residents to sustain the development momentum by coming out in full force on election day.

Odumbaku Unveils ‘HEYS Reloaded’ Vision for a Greater Ojodu

In his address, Hon. Segun Odumbaku struck a passionate and unifying tone, reminding the audience of their shared progress and the vision that began four years ago under the HEYS AgendaHealth, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Social Security.

“We have delivered on our promises—rehabilitated health centers, built markets, installed solar-powered boreholes, lit up our communities, empowered our youths, and supported our traders and artisans. But our work is not yet done,” he declared.

Promising an even more ambitious developmental push, he introduced ‘HEYS Reloaded’—a bold expansion of his initial agenda. Key highlights of this renewed plan include:

  • Upgraded Primary Health Centres in every ward
  • Tech-driven education and smarter schools
  • Youth tech hubs, skill acquisition centers, and business incubation for startups
  • Community-based sanitation and environmental initiatives
  • Development of sports centres and new market structures
  • Reconstruction of inner roads, improved drainage, and modern street lighting

“From Sabo to Omole, Yakoyo to Aguda, Oke-Ira to Akiode, Berger to Agidingbi—every community will feel the impact of our next phase. No one will be left behind,” Odumbaku affirmed.

He called on all artisans, market traders, religious groups, youth associations, and SMEs to become ambassadors of the campaign.

“You are not just voters—you are builders of this great community. Let’s take our message to every street, shop, salon, workshop, and worship centre. This is not just an election—it’s a referendum on progress,” he said.

A Resounding Call to Action

The rally concluded with thunderous chants of “Four more years!” and “APC!” as supporters pledged their commitment to ensuring a decisive victory for the party at the polls.

“Let July 12 be a celebration of unity, purpose, and progress,” Odumbaku declared. “Let the world see that grassroots power is alive and strong in Ojodu LCDA. Together, we will win, and together, we will do more.”

As the countdown begins, Ojodu LCDA is abuzz with renewed hope and determination—a clear sign that the battle for the soul of the community will be fought with facts, fervor, and faith in a shared future.

God bless Ojodu LCDA. God bless Lagos State. And may our victory be sweet and sure.
