Polaris Bank to Host 2025 Annual Media Capacity Building Seminar, Reaffirms Commitment to Journalism Excellence

Lagos, Nigeria – July 15, 2025 – Polaris Bank is set to host the 2025 edition of its Annual Media Capacity Building Seminar on Wednesday, July 17, as part of its ongoing efforts to support media professionalism and journalistic excellence in Nigeria.

This year’s seminar, themed “Empowering Journalists in the Digital Age: Storytelling, Tools & Transformation”, will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and feature two distinguished media professionals as facilitators—Taiwo Obe, Founder and Director of the Journalism Clinic, and Abayomi Adisa, a Senior Journalist with the BBC.

Now in its 11th year, the Polaris Media Seminar has become a flagship platform for equipping Nigerian journalists with the tools and insights needed to navigate the rapidly evolving media landscape. Since the programme began in 2015, it has trained over 5,500 journalists across the country, making it one of the most consistent corporate investments in media development in Nigeria.

The 2024 edition, which adopted a hybrid format, drew over 500 participants and focused on the integration of artificial intelligence in media practice. Topics covered included data journalism, fact-checking, multimedia storytelling, and ethical AI adoption in newsrooms.

Building on that momentum, the 2025 edition will delve into critical aspects of digital-era journalism, including transformative newsroom practices and innovative storytelling techniques. Participants will be exposed to emerging tools and strategies to stay relevant and impactful amid rapid technological changes and audience shifts.

Attendance at the seminar is free, but interested journalists and media professionals are required to register via the official link: bit.ly/PAMC2025.

Polaris Bank reaffirmed its dedication to empowering the media industry, stating that the seminar is part of its broader commitment to fostering a well-informed society through strategic investment in media capacity development.

“Polaris Bank remains steadfast in its mission to promote responsible and impactful journalism. By continuously investing in professional development programmes like this, we are helping shape a future-ready media ecosystem,” the Bank said in a statement.

The annual seminar continues to reinforce Polaris Bank’s role as a forward-thinking institution championing innovation, integrity, and excellence within and beyond the financial sector.
