Soludo Commissions Solution Market and Park in Ekwulobia, Offers Free Stalls and Parking to Traders
EKWULOBIA, ANAMBRA — In a significant move to decongest traffic and boost local commerce, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned the newly completed Solution Market and Park in Ekwulobia, offering free stalls and parking spaces to local traders and transport operators.
The infrastructure project, which includes a “park and shop” facility, solar-powered streetlights, pipe-borne water, a relaxation centre, and public conveniences, is part of Governor Soludo’s broader urban renewal agenda aimed at transforming major commercial and transit points in the state.
According to Izuchukwu Adichie, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media, the project is designed to address the long-standing traffic chaos at the Ekwulobia flyover — a key junction in Anambra South Senatorial District that experiences heavy vehicular and pedestrian movement.
Adichie noted that the Solution Market and Park initiative marks a bold step to discontinue commercial bus activities around the flyover, thereby streamlining traffic and improving the general aesthetic of the area.
“Governor Soludo’s vision is not just about physical structures, but also about improving livelihoods. By offering stalls at no cost to petty traders, the administration is encouraging micro-businesses while creating a well-organized, clean, and accessible trading environment,” Adichie said.
The new facility is expected to serve as a commercial hub while reducing the gridlock that has long plagued the area. Traders, motorists, and residents alike are expected to benefit from the improved order and safety of the environment.
The Solution Market is part of a broader plan by the Soludo administration to modernize urban centres and drive grassroots economic development across the state.
Meanwhile, at the 13th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the newly inaugurated Government House—The Light House, in Awka—Governor Soludo and his cabinet approved the construction of Onwurah Street beside the Township Stadium in Awka.
The road construction, to be executed by the Anambra Road Management Agency (ARMA), is aimed at improving the visual appeal and accessibility of the area as part of ongoing urban enhancement efforts.
The commissioning of the Solution Market and Park is expected to catalyze economic activity, promote safer transportation, and reinforce the administration’s people-first governance model.
