Zone 2 Police Command Honours Promoted and Retiring Officers in Grand Send-Forth Ceremony

In a heartwarming and dignified ceremony, the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force hosted a grand send-forth and celebration party to honour two newly promoted officers and over 20 retiring officers who have diligently served the nation. The colourful event, held in Lagos, was filled with pomp, heartfelt tributes, and a sense of camaraderie among officers, friends, and families of the celebrants.

Among the retiring senior officers celebrated for their meritorious service were Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) Patrick Ejedawe, DCP Nawa Said, and DCP Gbenga Ogunsakin. Their exemplary careers and years of selfless contribution to the Force were highlighted and lauded by both current serving officers and guests at the occasion.

The success of the ceremony was largely attributed to the tireless efforts of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, AIG Fayoade Adegoke, who not only hosted the event but also took time to pay glowing tributes to the retiring officers and the newly promoted ones.

In his keynote address, AIG Fayoade commended the retirees for their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force. He also congratulated the recently promoted Commissioners of Police, CP Martins and CP Ajao Adewale, applauding their track record of professionalism, diligence, and leadership, particularly in their service within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

"These are men of integrity, intelligence, and distinction," AIG Fayoade noted. "They have set a legacy of excellence in Zone 2, and I am proud of the standard they have helped to maintain. Trust and confidentiality remain the bedrock of police work, and I urge all officers to continue to uphold these values in the discharge of their duties."

The ceremony, chaired by Chief Charles, saw the attendance of dignitaries and stakeholders in the security community. One of the highlights of the event was the goodwill message delivered by Professor Festus Oshibowale, who represented Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, a key figure of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

Professor Oshibowale praised the leadership style of AIG Fayoade and expressed deep appreciation for the roles played by CP Martins and CP Ajao Adewale in enhancing operational efficiency in Zone 2. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, mutual respect, and continuity in service delivery, urging the serving officers to sustain the legacy of excellence left by their predecessors.

"From the moment I stepped into Zone 2, I was received with open arms. The environment reflects discipline and professionalism. The retiring officers are leaving behind solid footprints, and those taking over have already shown they are up to the task," he said.

The event was rounded off with the presentation of appreciation gifts and awards to the deserving officers. The symbolic gestures were a mark of gratitude for years of patriotic service to the nation and a recognition of outstanding contributions to security and law enforcement.

As the curtains fell on the emotional celebration, it was evident that the legacy of excellence, integrity, and commitment to service lives on in Zone 2 Command. The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, continues to set a new standard in recognising and rewarding its personnel, both in active service and in retirement.
