Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Swears In New Legislative Council: Councillors Urged to Uphold Public Trust and Serve with Integrity





Executive Chairman Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar charges new councillors to be custodians of hope and agents of development

Agboyi-Ketu, Lagos — In a ceremony marked by solemnity and optimism, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, has officially sworn in the newly elected councillors, urging them to serve as true custodians of the hopes and aspirations of the people.

The swearing-in and proclamation ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the new Multipurpose Hall of the Council Secretariat. The event formally introduced the legislative council to the public and set the tone for legislative leadership in the new administration.



In her address, Hon. Abubakar congratulated the councillors on their successful election and expressed deep appreciation to political leaders, stakeholders, and community members who contributed to her emergence as Chairman and supported the electoral process.

“You are not just councillors; you are the voices and advocates of our people,” she said. “It is now your duty to ensure that their voices are heard, their needs addressed, and their rights protected.”

The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the immediate past Chairman, who encouraged the new councillors to embrace collaboration, unity, and purpose in delivering on their legislative mandates.



Also present was Pastor (Mrs.) Yetunde Arobieke, a pioneer Chairman and former Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs as well as Wealth Creation and Employment. She applauded the leadership transition and urged the councillors to serve with passion, integrity, and an unrelenting focus on community development.

The councillors took their oaths of office in a solemn moment led by Council Legal Officer, Barr. Rabiu Kazeem Dare, while the official proclamation was carried out by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Arowolo Bashir.



The ceremony drew wide attendance from political leaders, traditional rulers, past and present councillors, members of the management team, and stakeholders across the LCDA. The mood was celebratory as the community welcomed the new legislative council with high expectations for progress and responsive governance.

The newly sworn-in councillors and their legislative positions are as follows:

  1. Hon. Aderoju Adekunle Adelowotan (Ward G) – Leader of the House
  2. Hon. Akinyemi Oluwatoyin Amdalat (Ward F) – Deputy Leader
  3. Hon. Rahamon Ademola Tahir (Ward B) – Majority Leader
  4. Hon. Fashanu Moshood Adebisi (Ward F) – Chief Whip
  5. Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim Adeshina (Ward C) – Deputy Chief Whip
  6. Hon. Fatai Olabisi Akinyemi (Ward E) – Member
  7. Hon. Kazeem Oluwaseun Balogun (Ward A) – Member


With a renewed mandate and fresh leadership, the legislative arm of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is poised to work hand-in-hand with the executive to foster grassroots development and uphold the democratic values of transparency, service, and inclusion.
