Anambra Govt Approves Rehabilitation of Amichi-Osumenyi Road, Expands Development Projects

Awka, August 8, 2025 – The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the rehabilitation of the Amichi-Osumenyi Road as part of its ongoing infrastructure renewal programme. The project will be executed by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA).

State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, disclosed this after the 17th Council meeting held on August 7, 2025, at the Light House, Awka. The session also addressed other key development matters across the state.

In addition to the road rehabilitation approval, ANSEC reiterated its warning against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, urging residents to rely on credible sources and verify information before sharing. The measure is aimed at safeguarding public order and promoting peace, particularly ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The latest decision follows a series of recent infrastructure approvals, including the construction of the Nri-Agbanabo-Nimo Road, the Awka City Park Project, and the Solution Fun Club – initiatives designed to enhance environmental aesthetics and provide recreational facilities.

Also awarded was the fourth dual carriageway project from Ekwulobia to Nnobi, completing the beltway that links the state’s four major cities with dual carriageways, thereby easing traffic flow across Anambra.

To further improve the state’s investment climate, the Council reviewed and endorsed the progress report of the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP).

In the area of human capital development, ANSEC approved the launch of Cohort Two of the One-Youth-Two-Skills digital training scheme. This follows the success of Cohort One, which trained 11,000 youths in 65 skill areas, with 7,163 excelling. The programme also saw 235 apprentices from the Local Enterprise Development initiative succeed across the 21 local government areas, producing over 1,000 new millionaires among its graduates.
