Be More Technical in Fight Against Banditry, Terrorism – Primate Ayodele Urges DSS DG

Founder and Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has commended the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) for what he described as the agency’s “doggedness and dedication” in safeguarding Nigeria’s security.
Speaking during a service at his church in Ejigbo, Lagos, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, the cleric urged the DSS to adopt more technical approaches in the fight against terrorism and banditry. He warned that criminal elements were allegedly plotting to attack and kidnap personnel of the service.
“The DSS is doing a wonderful job, but in their operations, they must be more technical than before because there are people who want to destroy the security network of this country. DSS personnel may be attacked or kidnapped, and their offices must be properly secured to prevent any attempt to set them ablaze,” he cautioned.
Primate Ayodele also prophesied that there were plots to kidnap a prominent emir in the North and a top politician in the East, describing the development as a serious national security concern.
He emphasized that the DSS under its current leadership had the capacity to counter such threats but needed to remain vigilant.
“The DG of DSS is capable of getting rid of these threats. Citizens must also respect them, their mission, and their sacrifices, because they are putting their lives on the line for the nation,” he said.
The cleric urged Nigerians to support the DSS in its mandate, stressing that its role was distinct from that of the police or the military in addressing intelligence-related threats.
