 FirstBank to Host 2025 Agric and Export Conference, Focus on Building a Non-Oil Export-Driven Economy



Lagos, August 11, 2025FirstBank, West Africa’s premier financial institution, has announced that the 2025 edition of its flagship Agric and Export Conference will hold on Tuesday, August 19, at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Themed “The Fundamentals of Building a Non-Oil Export Driven Economy”, the conference seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural and non-oil export sectors as pivotal drivers of sustainable economic growth.

This year’s edition will adopt a hybrid format, with principal stakeholders attending physically and the wider public participating virtually. The event will also feature an exhibition showcasing leading organisations and associations in agriculture and export.

Key highlights will include a keynote address by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; goodwill messages; plenary discussions; and technical sessions led by industry experts across the agriculture and export value chain.

Notable speakers include the Managing Director, Bank of Agriculture, Mr. Jafar Abubakar Umar; MD/CEO, Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Mr. Abba Bello; Executive Secretary, National Action Committee on AfCFTA, Mr. Segun Awolowo; President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Architect Kabir Ibrahim; and CEO, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, among others.

Speaking ahead of the conference, FirstBank Group Managing Director, Olusegun Alebiosu, described the platform as a strategic avenue for stakeholders to exchange ideas and craft actionable strategies to unlock Nigeria’s non-oil export potential.

“Through this platform, FirstBank is empowering customers and stakeholders with insights, solutions, and connections that can help them navigate the complexities of the agricultural and export sectors. Our goal is to deliver tangible benefits, enhance business prospects, and contribute to the nation’s economic growth,” Alebiosu said.
