Globacom Marks 22 Years, Appreciates Customers for Loyalty

Telecommunications company, Globacom, has expressed gratitude to millions of its subscribers in Nigeria and beyond for their loyalty and support since the network rolled out services on August 29, 2003.

In a statement marking its 22nd anniversary, the company described its journey as one built on “resilience and strength,” noting that customers had been the driving force behind its growth.

“Through every storm, you, our loyal subscribers, have powered our network. With every connection, you have fuelled our growth,” Globacom said.

Since inception, the company has consistently introduced groundbreaking innovations in the telecom sector. It pioneered per-second billing in Nigeria, reduced the cost of SIM acquisition, and expanded affordable access to mobile services for millions of Nigerians.

Globacom has also invested heavily in infrastructure, including one of Africa’s most extensive fiber optic networks, connecting cities, towns, and underserved communities. The launch of the Glo 1 submarine cable—Africa’s first privately owned undersea cable—further boosted Nigeria’s broadband capacity and positioned the country for digital growth.

Over the years, Glo has introduced cost-effective voice and data packages, created platforms for digital empowerment, and invested in sectors such as sports, entertainment, education, and culture, playing a key role in promoting Nigerian and African talent on the global stage.

Reaffirming its long-term vision, the company said it remains committed to driving digital transformation in Nigeria and Africa.

“We will continue to invest in next-generation technologies, expand data services, and create platforms that will power innovation, e-commerce, fintech, entertainment, and everyday life. The future is bright, and together we will march into a new era of boundless possibilities,” it said.
