The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has commended the Chief of Army Staff (CAS) for ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism, while urging the military to intensify airstrikes against criminal elements across the country.
Speaking on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Ejigbo, Lagos, during a session on national issues, Primate Ayodele called on the Army Chief not to relent in the war against insurgents, bandits, and terrorists.
“I want to commend the Chief of Army Staff for what he has been doing. He must not relent, he must not sleep. In the coming weeks, there are plans to attack Katsina, Adamawa, Niger, Benue, Taraba, Abuja, Enugu, Imo, and Anambra. The Army must be watchful,” Ayodele said.
According to the cleric, those behind insecurity in the South-East are bandits and herdsmen from the region, while “the real terrorists” are operating in the North. He warned that terrorists were plotting to engage the military in direct confrontations and advised the army to be alert to insider threats.
“The Chief must be careful so that those he trusts as confidants do not betray him. They must also guard against possible explosions at their dockyard,” he cautioned.
Primate Ayodele further called for the use of strategic and well-targeted airstrikes to weaken terrorist strongholds, stressing that operations should avoid civilian casualties.
“Nevertheless, their efforts so far are commendable. The Nigerian Army will defeat terrorists and emerge with a great victory, but the Chief of Army Staff must continue to do what is needful,” he added.
