Aroyewun Inspects Drainage Project, Proposed Primary School Site in Igbogbo

The Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), on Friday visited Zumratul Islamiyyah School in Igbogbo to inspect an ongoing drainage project and assess the site earmarked for a new primary school.

Aroyewun, who expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on the drainage system, said the intervention was a critical step toward ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils.

He noted that flooding had long disrupted activities at the school and its environs, exposing children and staff to health and safety risks.

“A secure and flood-free learning environment is non-negotiable. This drainage project is designed not only to safeguard the children and staff of Zumratul Islamiyyah School but also to protect the surrounding community from flooding hazards,” he said.

The council boss added that his administration would continue to monitor the project to ensure it meets standard and is delivered on schedule.

After the inspection, Aroyewun proceeded to the location earmarked for a new public primary school in the area, describing the initiative as a response to the rising demand for educational infrastructure within the LCDA.

“Our administration’s GLORY Agenda prioritises access to education for every child. The proposed school will expand learning opportunities, reduce pressure on existing facilities, and bring education closer to our children,” he said.

The Chairman pledged that the project would be delivered on time as part of his administration’s commitment to improving education in the community.
