Cherubim and Seraphim at 100: Morning Star C&S Festac Marks Centenary with Praise and Thanksgiving

Lagos, September 15, 2025 — The Cherubim and Seraphim Church (C&S), founded a century ago by St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase Ajagunmokadi, celebrated its centenary anniversary with a week-long series of events that drew members from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

The celebrations, which doubled as the annual General Conference of the Morning Star Church, commenced on Monday, September 8, with a grand Praise Night Musical Concert. The following day, Tuesday, September 9 — marking exactly 100 years since the church’s establishment in 1925 — a special service titled Seraphic 100 Years Anniversary was held, featuring a documentary chronicling the growth and expansion of the church.

Other activities during the week included the General Conference sessions and the ordination of new members into leadership positions.

The climax came on Sunday with a colorful thanksgiving service, which opened with a roadshow parade across the Festac and Amuwo-Odofin axis. The main service at The Morning Star Cathedral, 402 Road, E-Close, Festac Town, featured thanksgiving sessions, prayers, and special messages of hope. Worshippers from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and overseas parishes attended, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and jubilation.

“God has brought us this far”

Speaking on the significance of the centenary, one of the church leaders described the event as both historic and spiritual. “This is not just an anniversary; it is a general annual conference where all our parishes worldwide gather to review our journey and map out how to move the organization forward,” he explained.

He expressed delight at the massive turnout, saying: “I feel very happy, and I believe God is the one expanding the order. Everything has been very successful and to Him be the glory.”

Message for Nigeria

Beyond the celebrations, the church leadership reflected on Nigeria’s current challenges, calling on the government to prioritize the welfare of citizens. They stressed that the centenary was not only a celebration of spiritual growth but also a reminder of the role of faith in national renewal.

“Leaders must care for the poor. If you care for the people, God will care for you. Our politicians must be truthful to the electorate because truth is the only thing that can help Nigeria,” the cleric said, warning that dishonesty in governance continues to deepen the nation’s crises.

He emphasized that the church would not directly condemn leaders but urged them to fulfill their promises to Nigerians. “A bad man knows he is bad. He doesn’t need anyone to tell him. Leaders should simply do what is right,” he added.

Hope for the Future

Asked about his prayers for the future of the C&S Church, the cleric expressed optimism that the church would continue to grow beyond its present reach. “In the next five years, this holy order will get to places it has never been before, by the grace of God,” he said.

For the masses, his message was one of hope and endurance: “Anything that has a beginning must have an end. Nigerians should continue to pray and endure. At the appointed time, God will intervene and do what will surprise everyone in this nation.”

The centenary celebrations thus combined reflection, thanksgiving, and a renewed call to faith — a landmark moment for the Cherubim and Seraphim Church as it steps into its next century of spiritual service.
