EMBER MONTHS: FRSC RS2 Zonal Commander, ACM Ann Oladayo Hosts AIG Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, Seeks Stronger Synergy on Road Safety
Lagos – In a renewed drive to deepen inter-agency collaboration, the Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS2 Headquarters, ACM Ann Oladayo, on Tuesday hosted the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, at the Corps’ Zonal Headquarters in Ojodu, Lagos.
The courtesy visit, which comes at the peak of the Ember Months, was aimed at strengthening the already existing relationship between the Police and the FRSC, and at fostering greater synergy in the areas of road safety and security across Lagos and Ogun States.
Welcoming her guest, ACM Oladayo lauded the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for his impactful reforms and pledged to replicate his vision at the Zonal level. She described AIG Fayoade as a man of integrity and commitment, adding that his visit would mark the beginning of a new phase of collaboration between the two agencies.
“We are already seeing a reduction in crashes, but we know the trend during this period of the year. As we enter the Ember Months, we must intensify operations, especially on the busy Lagos–Ibadan corridor and other major highways,” Oladayo said. “With the collaboration of the Police, we can better enforce laws on heavy-duty truck drivers, carry out joint patrols, and reduce fatalities on our highways.”
She outlined key focus areas including proactive traffic management, data-driven enforcement, and workshops for truck operators under the Road Traffic Safety Standardization Scheme (RTSSS). She also appealed for greater cooperation from Police Divisional Officers, especially in recognizing Special Marshals and providing monthly data needed for operational planning.
In his remarks, AIG Fayoade praised ACM Oladayo as the first female Zonal Commander of RS2 Headquarters and commended her leadership. He emphasized the importance of regular collaboration, particularly during the Ember Months when traffic and security challenges are heightened.
“We cannot ensure safety and security in this country if we do not partner with one another. Our duties are complementary; we must work together on accident scenes, joint patrols, and emergency response to save lives,” Fayoade stated.
He announced plans to champion a joint workshop for junior officers of the Police, FRSC, and other agencies to foster better cooperation at the grassroots level.
“Lagos and Ogun are high-activity states, with Lagos being the nation’s economic hub. We must raise our performance levels and avoid rivalry. Regular interaction and joint initiatives are the antidote to ensuring safe and secure roads,” he added.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to sustained collaboration aimed at ensuring safer roads and improved public confidence during and beyond the Ember Months.
