Glo Foundation Unveils N5m STEM Challenge for Girls
In commemoration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, the Glo Foundation, corporate social responsibility arm of telecoms giant Globacom, has launched a nationwide STEM competition aimed at encouraging more girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Tagged the “Glo Innov8 National STEM Competition for Girls”, the initiative will see senior secondary school girls across Nigeria compete in innovative, STEM-driven projects, with winning schools sharing prizes worth N5 million.
According to the Foundation, the competition is designed to inspire young girls to “Compete, Innovate and Win,” while also building their confidence and deepening their knowledge of STEM subjects.
“This is our modest way at Glo Foundation of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on the studies of STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in future so as to become problem solvers for the country,” the Foundation said in a statement.
The top prize includes N2 million for the winning school, laptops for the two students representing the school, and N200,000 for the teacher, mentor, or STEM coordinator. Second and third-place schools will also receive consolation prizes for their students and mentors.
Entries for the competition opened on Monday, September 15, 2025, and will close on October 5, 2025. Interested schools can register by visiting the Foundation’s official website at www.glo-foundation.com/glo-innov8.
