 Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Flags Off Rehabilitation of Oliwo Amoju Road

The Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced full rehabilitation works on Oliwo Amoju Road, one of the major access  linking several communities within the council.

The project, which kicked off on Monday, September 29, 2025, is part of the GLORY Agenda of the council chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), designed to improve inner roads, boost infrastructure, and enhance the living conditions of residents.

According to the council, the rehabilitation will include complete asphalt resurfacing, durable finishing, and the installation of modern streetlights. These upgrades are expected to improve road safety, enhance night-time security, and stimulate commercial activities.

Ahead of the asphalting, the entire drainage system along the road was desilted to ensure free flow of stormwater, addressing the recurrent flooding and erosion challenges that had long affected the community.

Speaking during the project flag-off, Chairman Aroyewun said his administration remains focused on providing infrastructure that directly impacts the people.

“The Oliwo Amoju Road is a major artery that links multiple communities, and we fully understand its importance to residents and local businesses. By clearing the drainage before asphalting, we are tackling perennial flooding issues head-on. Once completed, the road will be smooth, motorable, and well-lit, bringing relief, security, and renewed vibrancy to this area,” he stated.

Residents expressed excitement over the development, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will reduce transportation costs and ease movement.

The council assured that the project would be delivered to high-quality standards within the stipulated timeframe, with minimal inconvenience to road users.

The Oliwo Amoju Road rehabilitation adds to the growing list of infrastructure projects being executed under Aroyewun’s leadership, reflecting his administration’s commitment to people-focused governance and sustainable community development.
