LASTMA Boss Commends Motorists, Residents for Patience During Ogudu–Ifako Bridge Rehabilitation

Lagos — The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has applauded motorists and residents for their patience and understanding amid traffic diversions caused by the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge.

Bakare-Oki, who visited the project site in Ifako on Wednesday, reassured commuters that the reconstruction is being carried out under strict international standards and will be completed within the timeline earlier announced by the state government.

“I deeply empathise with our people over the inconveniences engendered by this diversionary arrangement. Nonetheless, this rehabilitation remains an indispensable undertaking to safeguard lives, fortify the structural integrity of the bridge, and elevate the commuting experience along this vital transportation corridor,” he said.

The LASTMA boss praised Lagosians for the adjustments they have made to their daily routines, describing their resilience and cooperation as a reflection of the state’s collective spirit. He also commended LASTMA officers deployed to the diversion points for their diligence, noting that no negative complaints had been recorded against them so far.

Bakare-Oki assured road users that LASTMA remains committed to ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the rehabilitation period. Officers, he said, will continue to provide real-time interventions, guide motorists, and ease congestion in the affected areas.
