Nigeria Customs Reaffirms CSR Commitment, Pledges Support for Sister Agencies

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has restated the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and assured continued support for sister government agencies in the discharge of their mandates.

Adeniyi made this known on Thursday, September 25, 2025, when he received the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Professor Tunji Olaopa, and his delegation at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja.

He underscored the importance of collaboration among government institutions, describing the visit as a demonstration of the cordial relationship between both agencies.

“It is good to maintain good neighbourliness. For us, this visit represents the continued friendship and cooperation that we have enjoyed over the years,” Adeniyi said.

Highlighting NCS’s CSR interventions, the CGC recalled that earlier in 2025, the Service adopted a secondary school in Wuse, providing learning tools and equipment for over 2,000 students. As part of its 2025–2026 capital projects, Customs is also remodelling the school’s assembly hall and installing solar-powered lighting facilities.

“Many of our officers began their careers in Wuse, and our professional history is not complete without reference to that community. We remain committed to giving back,” he added.

Responding to the Commission’s request for operational vehicles, Adeniyi assured that Customs would consider the appeal within its capacity.

“We may not be able to do everything at once, but the most important thing is our commitment to assisting sister agencies,” he said.

In his remarks, Professor Olaopa commended Customs for its reforms and innovations in revenue generation, describing the Service as a model institution.

“We are proud to be associated with the incredible strides of the Nigeria Customs Service. The President himself acknowledges the innovations in revenue generation, and we consider Customs a partner in progress,” Olaopa stated.

He noted that the Commission recently launched its strategic plan and expressed readiness for deeper collaboration with NCS, particularly in CSR and infrastructure support.

The meeting ended with both institutions pledging to strengthen cooperation and sustain their partnership in advancing national development.
